Snow Canyon State Park Elopement
Snow Canyon State Park Elopement
Darleta + Antonio │ St. George, Utah │ 10.11.2019
Does the beauty of Utah's red rock canyons speak to you? Is a stress-free elopement surrounded by nature more your style? If you answered yes to both of those questions, consider an adventure elopement in Snow Canyon State Park. If you've never heard of Snow Canyon, check out this post to see Darleta and Antonio's Snow Canyon elopement.
It was a gorgeous October day. Darleta and Antonio began their wedding festivities with a sunrise session that did not disappoint. As the sun rose above us, subtle plays of light and color danced across the majestic Snow Canyon landscape. I captured several stunning images of Darleta and Antonio amidst the stunning Utah scenery and the serenity of the Snow Canyon desert.
Snow Canyon State Park has mild winters and, despite its name, seldom sees snow. It's located roughly 300 miles south of Salt Lake City, just outside St. George, Utah. It can be windy, with wind speeds between 12 and 24 mph. Darleta and Antonio enjoyed perfect weather on the day of their elopement.
After their romantic sunrise session, Darleta and Antonio found a handful of close family members and friends patiently waiting for them. The wedding took place atop the Snow Canyon Overlook, with sweeping views of Utah's Red Mountains in the distance. Standing upon sand sage, blackbrush, and desert willow, Darleta and Antonio made life-long promises to each other, exchanged rings, and sealed the deal with a kiss. It was a lovely and meaningful ceremony with many heartfelt moments and picture-perfect scenery.
A special-use permit is required to get married in Snow Canyon State Park. It's best to become familiar with the Snow Canyon State Park rules and criteria before submitting an application and obtaining your special-use permit. Snow Canyon State Park, Utah's best-kept secret, has fewer visitors than Zion National Park to the East. Having fewer people, Snow Canyon is an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts like Darleta and Antonio to tie the knot.
After the ceremony, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Snow Canyon and headed into St. George for a celebratory dinner at Cliffside Restaurant. As the day turned into night, Darleta and Antonio shared a delicious meal with their family and friends in a private banquet room overlooking the St. George valley below. Big traditional weddings aren't for everyone, and this charming elopement proves that sometimes less is more. I had such a fun time hanging out with these two love birds and capturing the moments of their Snow Canyon elopement.
