Rebecca and Lawrence traveled more than 2,000 miles from Rhode Island, New York, to get married in Wyoming. These nature lovers avoided the chaos and skyrocketing expense associated with traditional weddings and opted for a romantic mountain elopement with a handful of family and friends instead. Theirs was an afternoon wedding ceremony that took place in August. Although forest fire smoke obstructed the mountain views, the temperature was just right, at about 75°.

The day began in Jackson Hole at Rebecca and Lawrence's accommodations. Rebecca looked radiant in her classic A-line wedding dress with elegant lace details. She wore a side-swept loose braid that was reminiscent of Rapunzel. Soon after Rebecca finished getting ready, she had a sweet first look with her dad. Then, her mom joined them and presented Rebecca with a colorful bridal bouquet adorned with heirloom photo charms.

With everyone dressed and ready, it was almost time for the ceremony. We piled into our cars and headed to The Wedding Tree, located on Gros Ventre Road. The parking lot can be easy to miss if you've never been there. Fortunately, I know this spot well, having photographed numerous Wedding Tree elopements. I led the wedding caravan to the small parking lot that can accommodate seven cars. From there, it's an easy 5-minute walk down the trail to the Wedding Tree.

After the ceremony, I suggested Rebecca, Lawrence, and I take a quick trip to Grand Teton National Park for late-afternoon newlywed photos at the Mormon Row Historic District. The wide-open views of the Teton Mountains and picturesque barns make a lovely backdrop for keepsake wedding portraits. The afternoon sun cast a beautiful golden hue onto the meadow surrounding us. Rebecca and Lawrence enjoyed a private moment together in this intriguing area and had fun posing for romantic photos. Then, we drove back to Jackson Hole, where we joined the others at Rendezvous Bistro for an unforgettable wedding reception.
